"Stranger's Face "
by Jennifer Sulaj

This is an abstract oil painting of a man who is homeless and has no place to lay down his belongings. His face cannot be recognised by anyone because when people walk by they look the other way. This painting is about love without a home. 'Exhibiting Art Melbourne, 2012'.

  • My paintings float freely between representational and abstract. The colours, texture, and techique reflect the emotions assocated with each art piece. My abstract paintings are impulsive and intuitive. I work directly onto the canvas without prelimary drawings or studies. This accounts for the freshness and immediacy in this artwork. In my representational paintings, I start with preliminary drawings and studies. Once the initial image is created on the canvas, I allow my intuition to freely guide the direction the piece takes. The passion to be creative is what motivates me to be an artist.
